Even 48 hours after FIR lodged against two
former Chief Engineers of PWD- Sunil Bhowmik and Soumesh Chandra Das and
some official, the police could not start investigation process into
the multi-crore corruption case- construction of fly over.
On
Friday, a Dy SP of Vigilance organization had lodged an FIR against two
former Chief Engineers and some officials of PWD and NCC Ltd under
Prevention of Corruption Act. However, the police authority could not
mind up, who will start the investigation into the high profile case.
Sources
said, the case may be finally handed over to newly floated crime branch
keeping in view of the vulnerability of the case. But Home department
is yet to issue a notification asking crime branch to take up the
investigation of the case.
Meanwhile,
former PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury has demanded to publish the
technical audit on the fly over works being carried out by Centre for
Road Research Institute (CRRI).
"People
of the state are eagerly waiting to see first Fly over is made
operational and we (Left Front govt) did not take any chance in handling
fly over works. Works were carried under the guideline of central
government-run agencies", he told the media at Belonia in a query
yesterday.
"It
is good two central government organizations had carried out study on
the fly over and submitted their reports to the government. An FIR was
also lodged based on the report. Now, it is time the government to
public the reports of two agencies’ report to clear the doubts", he
added.
