
In a remarkable gesture of solidarity
with jawans of armed forces securing the country, the Tripura government has
announced a compensatory package of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of all
42 CRPF jawans slain in suicide bombing by pro-Pak militants in Pulwama
district of troubletorn Kashmir yesterday as a mark of respect. Making the announcement
the chief minister Biiplab Kumar Deb told media persons in an interactive
session this afternoon in the state secretariat that the amount of compensation
would be sent by cheque or account transfer to the next of kin of all 42 slain
CRPF jawans.
The
chief minister, on behalf of his government and the people of Tripura, conveyed
his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and respect and sympathy to the
jawans who lost their lives in the line of duty. 'We condemn this dastardly
attack on our jawans in the strongest
possible terms and salute their martyrdom ; I am sure that the prime minister
Narendra Modi and the union home minister Rajnath Singh will take whatever
tough action is required to fulfill the collective desire of the nation by
taking drastic action against those involved in this dastardly attack' said
Biplab Kumar Deb.
Meanwhile, the state BJP led by chief minister and state
president Biplab Kumar Deb, walked in a procession to demonstrate the party's solidarity
with the entire nation and its armed forces . The silent rally passed through
the main city thoroughfares with a banner conveying respect to the slain CRPF
jawans and demanding drastic action against the perpetrators. All other cabinet
ministers also walked in the silent procession.
