Former RSP MLA Partha Das who enjoyed manifold benefits as a member ostensibly belonging to the scheduled caste community is facing fresh trouble as the director of scheduled caste welfare department Ratan Biswas has filed a complaint against him with the West Agartala police station . During his tenure as MLA between 2008-2013 from the Shalgarah constituency of Gomati district Partha Das was exposed as holding a fake SC certificate with which he enjoyed all benefits given to the depressed communities from the year 1983 to 2013. It was also revealed that is younger brother Chandan Das had lost his job as a government homeopathy doctor after his SC certificate had been proved to be false. Despite being exposed as a fake SC certificate holder Partha Das managed to complete his tenure as MLA because of inaction on the part of high-ups in the administration.

The case against him was filed yesterday on various charges of Indian Penal Code. Subrata Chakraborty, officer in charge of West Agartala police station, admitted that the case had indeed been filed. He said that Sections 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (knowingly using a forged document as genuine) of IPC and Section 11 of Tripura SC ST act have been invoked in the complaint registered against Partha Das. In case the charges are proved in the course of trial in the court, Partha Das can be sentenced to seven years of imprisonment and big amount of fine at the discretion of the court.
