The Tripura government is intending to relinquish the 10-storied IGM Hospital building to a Delhi based healthcare entity.
It
is likely that the IGM facilities will be given to Medanta Heart
Institute for creating a super special cardio care infrastructure for
all types of latest and complex cardio vascular treatment.
According
to informed sources, this recommendation was made by the Chief Minister
Biplab Kurmar Deb with an ideology to make Tripura an international
healthcare hub.
The Chief Minister already held meeting during his last visit to New
Delhi with one of the founders of Medanta and a globally acclaimed
cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeon, Padmabhushan Dr Naresh
Trehan.
At the meeting with Dr Naresh Trehan, Chief Minister
pointed out that Tripura would be best suited for international
healthcare hub considering its close proximity to Bangladesh and the
South East Asian countries. The Chief Minister is keen to divert the
flow of money to Tripura.
Dr Naresh Trehan is likely to visit
Agartala sometime soon to submit a proposal to the state government
after which the state government will discuss and decide the modalities
and the form of collaborations with Medanta. The government may go for a
PPP model with Medanta.
