state committee on Monday expelled four of its leaders, including
office-bearers, in Unokoti district for allegedly being 'indisciplined'
and taking part in 'anti-party activities'. The expelled BJP
leaders are Gyandip Chakma, president of Jana Jati Morcha in Unokoti
district, general secretary Shubham Chakma, district committee member
Nirmal Nama and Juba Morcha vice-president Niranjan Nama.
BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said the leaders have been expelled for six years for engaging in 'anti-party activities'. He added that the decision has been approved by the BJP state president and chief minister Biplab Deb. All due procedures and norms have been followed in this regard, he said. They had been repeatedly warned to mend their ways but as a last resort, BJP decided to expel them and take away their primary membership, he said.
